Homework
- Math Homework is due on Fridays (starting 9/15)
- Read 20 - 30 minutes (Monday - Thursday, but everyday is the best!)
School Hours
- The school day begins at 8:30 AM and ends at 3:30 PM.
- Students may arrive at school between 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM.
- If students arrive at school after 8:30 AM, they will be marked tardy.
Early Dismissal
- If you plan to pick your child up early, please notify me ahead of time. This way I can prepare your child with the necessary work he/she will miss.
- The last early dismissal is 2:45 PM.
- If you pick up your child before 11:45 AM, it is considered an absence.
- Please go straight to the office when picking up your child. They will notify me personally. Do not interrupt class by coming to the classroom.
Alternate Transportation
- I will dismiss your child as indicated on the transporation forms unless you have informed me otherwise.
- On the day your child will be going home an alternative way, please notify me via e-mail, phone call, or note. Just telling your child will not suffice. If there is a change, I am required to receive written notice. It is for your own child's safety.
Tardies/Absences
- Students are considered tardy if they arrive at school after the 8:30 AM bell.
- Students arriving after 8:30 AM should check in at the office for a tardy slip before coming to class.
- Students who are absent are required to bring a note from the parent or guardian (you may also send me an e-mail).
- If a note is not received, your child will receive an unexcused absence.
- Sickness, family emergencies, and religious holidays are considered excused absences.
- If you know that your child will be absent, please make me aware of this ahead of time. Then I can prepare your child with the necessary assignments and materials that will be missed. This will help keep your child connected with the pace of the class.
- In cases of extended absence, please arrange to come pick up daily assignments.
Morning Duties
Each morning your child will have morning duties.
- Unpack his/her book bag.
- Turn in his/her agenda.
- Use the restroom.
- Get sharpen pencils
- Get started on the morning assignment that is written on the board.
Room Temperature
- Sometimes the children may get cold in our classroom.
- Please send a sweater or a light jacket with your child if he/she is cold-natured.
Lunch
- Lunch will be from 11:05-11:30 pm everyday.
- Parents are welcome to meet our class in the cafeteria for lunch.

- Complete your payment by using a VISA card. You will receive an immediate confirmation that your payment has been received. Payments may take up to 24 to 48 hours.
Birthdays
- We will not have large celebrations for birthdays.
- If you would like to bring in cupcakes or something special for the class, that is fine. Per CMS rules, only store bought items are allowed to be distributed.
- We will eat birthday treats in the cafeteria during lunch.
- As of right now, we have 20 students in our class.
Physical Activity (Recess)
- We will have 30 minutes of Physical Activity each day.
- Remember, tennis shoes are always the safest way to play. Flip-flops should not be worn to school!
Conferences
- If you have a need for a conference, please notify me via e-mail so we can arrange an appropriate conference time. Stopping in before, after, or throughout the day is not appropriate to discuss needs. I will respond promptly to your concerns and would appreciate you respecting the other children and our time by doing the same. Conferences may be documented and/or an additional person may sit in on the conference as deemed necessary.
- It is not appropriate to stop by the classroom in the morning to discuss matters when sending your child to school. We can arrange a phone conference or set up an alternative time for a conference at school.
Thursday Folders
- Your child will bring this folder home on Thursday of the school week.
- Please look through all papers in the Thursday Folder. I often write notes on your child's work so you can better support the curriculum at home.
- Please send the folder back on Friday or Monday.
Checking Out Books
- Your child is allowed to check out books from both the media center and our classroom library.
- He/she is responsible for taking care of all checked-out books and returning them on time.
- If any books are lost or damaged, your child will have to pay a replacement fee.
Field Trips
- We usually have two field trips throughout the school year.
- Our field trips are aligned with the first grade curriculum.
